Everyone’s favorite practically perfect nanny takes the stage in this Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious musical adventure. One of the most popular Disney movies of all time is capturing hearts in a whole new way: as a practically perfect musical! Based on the books by P.L. Travers and the classic Walt Disney film, Disney and Cameron Mackintosh’s Mary Poppins delighted Broadway audiences for over 2,500 performances and received nominations for nine Olivier and seven Tony Awards, including Best Musical.


The jack-of-all trades, Bert, introduces us to England in 1910 and the troubled Banks family. Young Jane and Michael have sent many a nanny packing before Mary Poppins arrives on their doorstep. Using a combination of magic and common sense, she must teach the family members how to value each other again. Mary Poppins takes the children on many magical and memorable adventures, but Jane and Michael aren’t the only ones upon whom she has a profound effect. Even grown-ups can learn a lesson or two from the nanny who advises that “Anything can happen if you let it.”.


“Mary Poppins” opens Saturday, November 26, 2016 with a performance followed by an opening night reception at Terry B’s Restaurant in Dexter – tickets: Adults $35; $33 Seniors, Encore 100 Member; $31 Groups of 10 or more or Children under 17.

A native of Southern California, Olivia is a graduate of the University of Michigan’s Musical Theater Department. Credits include West Side Story (Maria) and the world premiere of OZ (u/s Dorothy) with Lamb’s Players Theatre, Into the Woods (Cinderella) with The University of Michigan, Les Misérables with Musical Theatre West, Pushing the Envelope, a concert for The Old Globe in San Diego, and most recently, Maize and Blue on Broadway at the August Wilson Theatre in NYC.

Sebastian recently was honored with the Wilde Award for Best One Man Show this past year for his performance of Chesapeake at Theater Nova. He was also honored last year by winning Best Actor in a Musical for his portrayal of Patsy in Spamalot at the Encore Theater. Other recent credits include: Venus in Fur (Thomas) at Performance Network, Into the Woods (Cinderella’s Prince/Wolf) at The Encore, Shipwrecked with Wild Swan Theater, and South Pacific at The Encore. He also has choreographed Spamalot and The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee at Community High School. He owes his acting career to the wonderful people who run The Encore Theater and have created such a wonderful and gifted space. Sebastian is also beyond pleased to be a part of the upcoming cast of Noises Off here at The Encore.


 edc2f0bb-ed71-4776-b6ff-7a9dfa64ae10Daniel A. Helmer (George Banks) is excited to be back with The Encore Musical Theatre Company after Assassins, Sondheim on Sondheim, Wizard of Oz, and more! As a child, Daniel remembers how the power of imagination was on display when he first saw Mary Poppins, and is glad he gets share this experience with you. Storytelling has a powerful effect on the world, and sharing these stories with you here, or with his students at Eastern Michigan University, or with the audiences of Round Table Theatre Company (of which he’s a co-founding member).

She has been in two Off-Broadway shows, and some favorite credits are Xanadu, A Little Night Music, Into the Woods and Urinetown. Ally is also a vocal teacher, choreographer, director and business owner of The Enchanted Princess Party. She is so excited to be making her debut on The Encore stage. 



Dana Steiner (Jane Banks at certain performances) is so excited to join the Encore family! Dana is in 9th grade at Pioneer High School and her favorite color is purple. She recently performed in A Christmas Story at Paper Mill Playhouse in New Jersey, and played Amaryllis in The Music Man at the University of Michigan. Dana has also performed in over a dozen musicals with Young People’s Theater, as well as at Pioneer High School, Ann Arbor Civic Theatre, and Emerson School.  Some of her favorite shows include: Annie (Annie), The Secret Garden Mary Lennox), and Shrek (Young Fiona).

She is so grateful for this opportunity to learn from this amazing cast and crew. Past favorite roles include Tarzan (Ape), Shrek the Musical (Little Pig #2), Seussical (Who), and The Little Mermaid (Seagull)in Young People’s Theater and other local productions.

She has appeared in many Encore productions. Some of her favorites: Joseph… Dreamcoat, Les Misérables, White Christmas, and Oliver. She also appeared as Gretel in Arbor Opera Theater’s The Sound of Music and A Christmas Carole at the Meadowbrook Theater.

He is thrilled to make his Encore Musical Theatre debut in a favorite role of his, as he played Michel Banks in Young People Theatre’s production of Mary Poppins in 2015. Other favorite roles include Young Will in University of Michigan MUSKET’s production of Big Fish and Pugsley Addams in Ann Arbor Civic Theatre’s production of The Addams Family. When not performing, he enjoys reading and playing Pokémon Go!

Fans of local youth theater may have spotted him previously in Shrek the Musical (Donkey), Tarzan (one of the Troupe of Apes), Seussical (Wickersham Brother), or 101 Dalmatians (Roger). 


9d5604b7-9367-443d-9e6b-f8dba0612654Emmanuel Morgan (Michael Banks at certain performances) couldn’t be happier to appear in his first production with The Encore and the first show with his papa, Kevin. He loves dancing, singing and acting. His major stage debut was with Civic Theater Jr. as Mowgli in Disney’s The Jungle Book earlier this year. He has also been in musicals at his church, St. Clare’s Episcopal. When he’s not on stage, Emmanuel enjoys basketball, baseball and golf.  In what little free time remains, he loves belting out songs from Hamilton while jumping on the trampoline in his backyard.

Theatre credits include the 1stNational and Broadway cast recording of Do Black Patent Leather Shoes Really Reflect Up?. She has also worked at Drury Lane Oakbrook Theatre, Marriott’s Lincolnshire, Meadowbrook Theatre, Kenley Players, Lake Superior Theatre, Surflight Summer Theatre, and Millbrook Playhouse. Opera credits include a 21 year affiliation with the Michigan Opera Theatre at the Detroit Opera House where she was involved not only in the mainstage productions, but also in the Community Programs division performing opera for children’s and community groups all over the state of Michigan.

680566d8-c480-4b6a-870e-f9ef921a3768Wendy Katz Hiller (Mrs. Brill) is excited to be in her third production at The Encore, most recently appearing as the Wicked Witch in last year’s The Wizard of Oz. Winner of the 2016 Wilde Award for her portrayal of Mrs. Malaprop in The Rivals with The Michigan Shakespeare Festival, Wendy has also performed with The Jewish Ensemble Theatre, The Matrix Theatre, Open Book Theatre, and the Performance Network. She is looking forward to returning to The Encore in February to play Dotty/Mrs. Clackett in Noises Off.

She has been seen on stage for many different area theater companies. Past credits include Shrek (Ann Arbor Civic Theater), Evil Dead the Musical (Annie – Dexter Community Players), Chicago (Velma Kelly – Saline Area Players), The Producers (Ann Arbor Civic Theater), and many more. 


14a9857a-ce07-4815-8055-0df0b60f1899Nick Casella (John Northbrook/Ensemble) is a recent graduate from Eastern Michigan University where he majored in Theatre Arts with a minor in Entertainment Design and Technology with a focus on Lighting Design. This is Nick’s first show at the Encore and his first show post-graduation and he could not be more excited!

She was last seen here as Mayor Munchkin in the Encore production of The Wizard of Oz. She has appeared in several other Encore shows, including Bonnie and Clyde (young Bonnie, a role she also played in the AACT production), Les Misérables (Young Cosette), White Christmas (Susan), Carousel (Snow daughter), and several ensemble roles. Elizabeth sings in Saline High School’s Colla Voce and Hornet Harmonies, and loves her voice lessons with Jane Panikkar and dancing at Studio 3 PAC.


d9f2003a-cd56-4222-bfa7-977c0805ed2aDale Dobson (Bank Chairman/Admiral Boom/Ensemble) is happy to be back at The Encore after appearing as Colonel Pickering in last season’s My Fair Lady.  He has been onstage recently at The Dio in Pinckney and outdoors with The Penny Seats in Ann Arbor, and he is pleased to be back in Dexter, helping to tell this classic story of family, responsibility and magic.

Some Kasey’s favorite past credits include: Fiddler on the Roof (Tzeitel), The Birthday Party (Meg Boles), Legally Blonde (Paulette), Little Shop of Horrors (Audrey), and Xanadu (Melpomene).

Previous Encore credits include Company (Kathy/Dance Captain), the world premiere of Christmas Caroled!, The Wizard of Oz (Dance Captain), Monty Python’s Spamalot, and Les Misérables. She holds degrees in Vocal Performance and Informatics from The University of Michigan (Go Blue!), and a certificate from Circle in the Square Theatre School in New York City. As a former corps member of the Michigan Ballet Theatre, she has also danced with principals from some of the most prominent companies in ballet, including the Bolshoi Ballet, The American Ballet Theatre, and The Joffrey Ballet.  Other favorite credits include: Agnes of God (Agnes), The Drowsy Chaperone (Trix the Aviatrix), and Rent (Mimi).



Gayle E. Martin (Ensemble) is a native of Ann Arbor. She is a graduate from the University of Michigan where she obtained her B.F.A in Musical Theatre, under the tutelage of Brent Wagner. She has worked at WCC since 1979 teaching dance, a sub for voice classes and Theatre classes. She has produced and directed many shows on WCC campus with her friend a colleague Ron Fracker, including For Colored Girls Only, The African Museum, and Godspell. To list a few.  She has choreographed shows such as Pippin, Cinderella, Fiddler on the Roof, Oklahoma, and many others. She directs and choreographs musicals at The Children’s Creative Center of Ann Arbor for the last 14 years.  She has performed with Ann Arbor Civic Theatre, Performance Network, The Chelsea Players, The Dexter Community Players. She has been in four productions at The Encore Musical Theatre Company: The Fantasticks (The Mute), South Pacific (Bloody Mary), The Wizard of Oz (Cowardly Lion), and The Full Monty (Jeanette Burmeister).

In the past year, she has worked with The Penny Seats Theatre Company in Xanadu (Kira), Jacques Brel… (Choreographer), and Urinetown (Little Sally – Wilde Award nomination). Other favorite shows include: Legally Blonde (Margo), A Chorus Line (Maggie), and Anything Goes (Reno Sweeney). During the day, she is a physics graduate student at UM, with a focus on ocean and climate research. Despite the fact that she plays a statue in this show, she is rarely standing still; her time is spent standing on her hands, doing aerial silks, speaking in foreign languages, and doing/teaching parkour.


a117b76a-c6a0-48c5-abd8-4f94faa13d64Kevin Morgan (William/Ensemble) is proud to be in his first Encore production and the first show he’s doing together with his son, Emmanuel (he hopes this is the first of many to come in the future).  Past shows include Rent (Roger), Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat (a brother), State Fair (Pat Gilbert), How to Succeed in Business without Really Trying (J. Pierrepont Finch). 


3b95c618-1c33-4639-a9bf-d048775d2554Luciana Piazza (Katie Nana/Ensemble) is thrilled to be returning for her third show at The Encore (previously seen as Pam Lukowski in The Full Monty and Ensign Janet MacGregor in South Pacific). A graduate of Oakland University’s BFA Acting program and the Hydrama Classical Theatre Study Program in Greece, she just completed an apprenticeship at Jeff Daniels’ Purple Rose Theatre Company. Other credits include roles at Royal Oak’s Water Works Theatre Company (Hamlet & As You Like It), the part of Chet Baker in the original cast performance and recording of BeBop: The Musical, and a role in the original film Liberty’s Secret that premiered this September. She has enjoyed the opportunity to sing in a variety of venues encompassing jazz, classical, and golden age musical theatre styles.

Recent credits include Fiddler on the Roof (Chava), Seussical, Jr. (The Cat in the Hat), Mrs. Bob Cratchit’s Wild Christmas Binge (Young Jacob Marley), Bonnie & Clyde the Musical (Young Bonnie), and Annie, Jr. (Annie). Kylie has also been in a Disney commercial for Kohl’s. During her spare time she enjoys singing, dancing, acting, playing the guitar, the ukulele and the piano.
